Terminology - or honorifics

Generally, clergy are allowed to put an honorific in front of their name.

You can do so, but you are not required to do so.

On ordination documents and on correspondence, the patriarch routinely places "The Reverend" in front of the names of all clergy, and similarly applies "The Right Reverend" to Bishops, and "The Most Reverend" to Matriarchs and Patriarchs.

However, you do not have to use these terms yourself, and may apply such honorifics as may be appropriate to yourself for use on business cards and correspondence.

Clergy may prefix their names with such traditional terms as Father, Brother Sister, Mother, Pastor, Rabbi etc. They can feel free to use irreverent prefixes, such as "The Irreverent."

We only request that you do not use unduly exalted prefixes as honorifics. "Her Royal Highness", for example is not appropriate unless you were born or married into it.
